The solar shades’ fabric is made of polyesters and has tiny micro-perforated holes which are then classified by a percentage anywhere from 1% to 15%, depending on the tightness of the weave. The lower the percentage, the less light that will penetrate the pierced holes, and the more privacy and darkness it will provide. A 1% solar blind will allow 1% of light to shine through whereas a 10% will allow 10% trough, while blocking 90% of the sun’s rays.

Because of their versatility and durability, these blinds are quite popular in commercial spaces, such as professional offices, malls, buildings and warehouses. They are one of the easiest types of shades to maintain; you simply need to wipe down with a wet cloth and mild soap. We offer variety  cassettes and valances to cover the top of roll of your desired solar shade. All of the components are made of aluminum and will automatically be matched to the fabric color. Cassettes come in 5 colors: white, ivory, grey, brown and black.  This option will elevate the style of your window covering and give it a refined look.

2 shades on 1 headrail

For those unusually wide windows, or patio doors, consider adding the 2 on 1 option to meet your window dressing needs. Fabric sheets are limited to a certain size, and if you go past that, the shade cannot be made unless it is seamed together. By customizing your solar shades as 2 shades on 1 headrail, you are no longer limited by fabric sizes and can order a total width of up to 144”.

Cordless lift system

Make your blinds even safer for children by choosing the cordless lift option. The mechanism is made up of the latest technology allowing you to operate the blind by touching it lightly with your fingertips, without chains or cords. They are pre-programmed and installed at the factory so there is little set-up after installation. Battery motors come with rechargeable batteries which last on average up to 6 months without having to be recharged. How does a solar window cover work?

Roller shades, commonly called roller blinds, are constructed with aluminum tube around which the fabric is wrapped when rolled up. Inside the tube is the mechanism commonly known as the “clutch” which will connect the tube to the chain. To raise and lower the window fabric, simply pull on the chain.

What does the fabric percentage mean?

The percentage indicated means the percentage of light that the solar shade will let through. So a 5% solar shade will block 95% of the sun’s rays. The higher the percentage, the more it will allow you to see outside. So 10% shades will provide a more unobstructed view outside than a 3% shade.
