Our classic designer blackout roller shades are a popular choice when it comes to modern and simplistic window shades. Made with a mixture of acrylic and polyester fabrics, these window treatments are easy to maintain, and will last for years to come

The durable 4-ply fabric will completely block out the light, giving you the pitch black effect that is desired in bedrooms and home theater rooms. Blackout roller shades will effectively block out the natural light during the day and night and will also protect against fading of your furniture caused by the sun’s rays.

Equipped with the renown Rollease mechanism, they roll up and down with ease and are incredibly silent to operate. With a variety of different colors and types of fabrics to choose from, you can rest assured that you’ll find something that suits your design and style. From contemporary to rustic, these versatile window coverings are an economical option when looking for modern shades that will provide total darkness in the room.

BLACKOUT ROLLER SHADES – ADVANTAGES

All of our blackout roller shades are easy to install. They come with all the required hardware and an instruction booklet for effortless installation. The chain mechanism, made of plastic or stainless steel, is self-lubricated and can be positioned on either side of the shade.

Our light filtering window shades are manufactured with the highest standards and made of only high-quality materials. The fabric is cut with laser technology which prevents the fabric’s edges from fraying. Once manufactured, each custom-made window covering is rigorously tested and inspected for quality assurance. You will also appreciate the lifetime limited warranty on the mechanism and 5-year warranty on the fabric, one of the best warranties in the industry.

Easy to use and durable, these shades are regularly used for commercial use. Many of our blackout roller shades are flame resistant and meet commercial insurance standards.

OPTIONS OFFERED

Cassettes and Fascia

The base option for blackout roller shades is with an open roll. This means that you will be able to see the roll where the fabric rolls-up at the top of the shade. If you are looking for a more elegant look, we offer you the option to add a cassette or fascia during the customization process which will cover the open roll. Our cassettes and fascia are made of aluminum and will match your chosen color of fabric.

2 shades on the same headrail

If you have a large window, or divided windows like a patio door, we recommend the 2 on 1 option, where you will have 2 independent panels, customized to your desired width, on one headrail. This avoids having 2 headrails and installing the shades side by side. It also allows you maximum control over the brightness and privacy in your room. If you opt for a cassette or fascia, the 2 shades will be behind one cassette measuring the total width of your blinds.

Cordless lift system

If you’re looking to have a child and pet friendly alternative to cords, but don’t want the added expense of motorization, the cordless option is the perfect solution. Cordless shades allow you to operate your window covering by touching it lightly with your fingertips to raise or lower the panel, without chains or cords. Add the cordless design when customizing your blackout roller shades.

Motorization

Motorized shades are more affordable than ever and are increasingly popular in residential homes. We offer battery, solar and wired motors. Delivered pre-programmed, each motorization package comes with everything you need to be operational right out of the box.

These powerful, yet quiet motors use state of the art technology to give you optimal light control over your blinds, as the settings can be adjusted according to your needs. All of our motors come with an industry leading 5-year warranty. Motorizing your custom blinds has never been more convenient.

BLACKOUT SHADES – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are blackout roller shades 100% blackout?

Yes, our blackout window blinds will block all light from entering the room. For inside mount, there may be a small light gap between the roller shade and window frame. For outside mount, we recommend adding an additional 2” in width on each side of the roller shade so that the shade hangs evenly with the wall and avoids light gaps between the wall and the roller shade.

Can I block the light gaps created between the window frame and shade for inside mounted window coverings?

Absolutely, you can add privacy strips to your order which can be affixed with the pre-coated adhesive tape to the inside of the window frame to block those light gaps. They will be pre-cut according to your window shade height.

How do your blackout roller shades compare to others on the market?

Our blackout shades are made with a 4-ply layer of fabric. This will ensure that your roller shade hangs straight and evenly and will resist creasing. Thinner and less quality fabrics, such as 2-ply or 3-ply, will be less durable and will not look as elegant, particularly for larger window treatments.

Will the fabric detach from the roll if the shade is rolled all the way down?

Our blackout roller shades have up to 6 inches of additional fabric which will give you a buffer if you accidentally roll the shades down beyond the specified height to prevent having any strain on the fabric where it is attached to the roll.

Can I cover the open roll that is at the top of the roller shades?

There are several cassette and valence options that you can choose from when it comes to covering the open roll of the roller shades. Some are available with a fabric insert which is the same fabric as your roller blind. Add your cassette option when customizing your window roller shades.

Do I need to hire a professional to measure and install my blackout roller shades?

Measuring and installation is very easy.  Visit our How to Measure page and our How to Install page for recommendations on how to take your measurements (it will be different depending if it is inside or outside mount) and to download installation instructions.

Do your blackout roller shades have a product warranty?

Yes, we stand by the quality of our products and they are covered by competitive industry warranties of 5 years for the fabric and a lifetime warranty for the mechanism. Find out more about what is or isn’t covered by warranty by consulting our warranty policy.

What is the difference between the different motorization options?

We offer battery, solar and wired motorization packages. The battery motor is powered by 2 rechargeable batteries. The solar package includes a solar panel and is powered by the sun’s rays and also has the batteries as a back-up for cloudy days. The wired system plugs into the electrical wiring system of your home. All motorization packages include a remote and the battery and solar packages also include a battery charger.
